January 19, 2009: Katie Edwards will be teaching BEE6940: Approaches to Analytical Characterization, a seven week, 1 credit survey course on analytical chemistry methods.
November 1, 2008: Congratulations to Dr. Baeumner, who has been promoted to full Professor!
October 12-16, 2008: Sam Nugen will be presenting a poster at MicroTAS 2008 in San Diego, CA.
August 15, 2008: Welcome to our visiting students, Ayten, Thomas and Heike, from the Universität Dortmund who will be conducting research in our lab this semester.
June 29-July 4, 2008: Katie Edwards will be speaking at the Gordon Research Conference on Bioanalytical Sensors at Bryant University, Smithfield, RI. Dr. Baeumner is serving as a vice chair of the conference.
June 15, 2008: Dr. Baeumner has been named the new Director of Graduate Studies for the Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering beginning in the 2008-2009 academic year.
June 1, 2008: John Connelly will be speaking about our Cryptosporidium biosensor at the ASM General Meeting in Boston, MA, in the Host-Parasite Interaction Session (157/AA). He will also be presenting a poster in the Poster Hall on June 4.
May 1, 2008: Dr. Baeumner is the guest editor of this month's edition of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry (Volume 391, Number 2) and a microscope image taken by John Connelly is on the cover, highlighting his paper. Sam Nugen also has a review on food pathogen detection trends in this issue.
March 5, 2008: Peter Asiello placed third in the Institute of Biological Engineering's annual BioExpo poster competition.
March 2-6, 2008: Dr. Baeumner is the organizer of the symposium on HIV/AIDS-related diagnostics for Resource-limited Countries at the 59th PittCon in New Orleans, LA, with Dr. Katie Edwards presenting.
July 11, 2007: Dr. Baeumner has been named a finalist in the New York Academy of Science's Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists competition.
June 25-26, 2007: Dr. Baeumner will be hosting our collaborators from the CD4 Initiative during the PI meeting, held on campus.
May 10, 2007: Dr. Baeumner has been awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellowship from the Alexander von Humbodt Foundation and a Mercator Guest Professorship from the German National Science Foundation. The Humboldt fellowship was awarded in recognition of her contribution to research and science. The Mercator guest professorship award for research and teaching will allow Baeumner to work during her upcoming sabbatical leave at the Institute of Biological and Chemical Microstructures and the Institute for Analytical Sciences in Dortmund, Germany.
April 20, 2007: Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society has named Dr. Baeumner Professor of the Year.
March 7, 2007: Provost Carolyn "Biddy" Martin recognized the work of the Bioanalytical Microsystems and Biosensors Lab in the Academic State of the University Address.
August 1, 2005: Natalya Zaytseva has a paper featured in this month's edition of Lab on a Chip (Volume 5, Number 8) highlighted with a cover image.
July 18, 2005: Sam Nugen will be presenting at the Institute of Food Technologists annual meeting in New Orleans about our Streptococcus pyogenes biosensor work.
May 25, 2005: Dr. Baeumner has recognized by Merrill Presidential Scholar Yuk Yee Yau, a former undergraduate teaching assistant, as a faculty member who made an impact on her life.
March 19, 2003: Dr. Baeumner participated in a session at a special forum, "The Power and Promise of Life Sciences," held at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. The forum is one of three held to inform Cornell alumni about the New Life Sciences Initiative.
May 24, 2001: Dr. Baeumner was the inaugaral recipient of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences' Excellence in Mentoring Undergraduate Students in Independent Research award.
