Dr. Baeumner has been named a finalist in the New York Academy of Science's Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists competition.

Dr. Baeumner has been awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellowship from the Alexander von Humbodt Foundation and a Mercator Guest Professorship from the German National Science Foundation. The Humboldt fellowship was awarded in recognition of her contribution to research and science. The Mercator guest professorship award for research and teaching will allow Baeumner to work during her upcoming sabbatical leave at the Institute of Biological and Chemical Microstructures and the Institute for Analytical Sciences in Dortmund, Germany.

Dr. Baeumner has recognized by Merrill Presidential Scholar Yuk Yee Yau, a former undergraduate teaching assistant, as a faculty member who made an impact on her life.

Dr. Baeumner participated in a session at a special forum, "The Power and Promise of Life Sciences," held at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. The forum is one of three held to inform Cornell alumni about the New Life Sciences Initiative.
